India and her constitution's intended setup was to be one that
treats all religions equal under the law. However, that is not how
reality has shaped up to be. There are many constitutional
injunctions through which the Indian state overtly or tacitly
discriminates against Hindus, often in favor of minority
communities.
The National Conference On Equal Rights For Hindus is an event
designed to point out these inconsistencies in the COnstitution,
and urge the government to take steps to address these
inequalities. Until these are addressed, can we really call India a
truly secular country?
